About This Event

We will be playing a “Ding!” sound over loudspeaker before each 5 minute round. The goal (aside from having some fun) is to bring awareness to your communities, and inspire you to take action against distracted driving. Have fun AND help save lives!

Teams and individual participants will battle their way through the tournament brackets. Spectators are also welcome, as watching other participants bounce around the field is fun, too! While not playing or watching Battle Balls, there will be numerous other activities to participate in (think sumo wrestling, gladiator jousting, inflatable obstacle course…), as well as food, drinks, music, and social engagement stations.

To educate and inspire, information and demonstrations from safety organizations and TextNinja will be available, and participants will be encouraged to sign safe-driving pledges and will walk away with a real desire to #takeaction against distracted driving.

What is Battle Balls (aka. bubble soccer)?

  • Teams of 5-6 play 5 minute games in an enclosed soccer field.
  • “The game itself is a cross between soccer and zorbing, a sport where an individual rolls down the side of a hill or sometimes a level surface in a giant plastic orb. The plastic orb in bubble soccer is similar in construction but allows the player’s legs to run around freely. We call our orbs Battle Balls, because the alliteration evokes the moods of both competition and silliness.”
