In September, we announced a new safety partnership with the Anthony Phoenix Branca Foundation (or APB Foundation) and we’re very excited about the synergy of our ninjas with APB Foundation’s Bandana Army! It’s proof of our distracted driving Campaign feature and the power of meaningful partnerships.
Widespread campaigns from the government, other apps to stop texting and driving, and national safety organizations are contributing to growing levels of awareness about distracted driving. But for most people, it’s all-too-easy to acknowledge the dangerous statistics, and then quickly forget the relevance to their own lives.
So what is the best app to stop texting and driving? The jury is still out. Watch as we compete on Bootstrapping in America’s XL competition for a $25,000 investment into our company. We’re competing against 9 other startups for a chance to win an investment from the TastyTrade network. We qualified for the competition, and now we get a two minute pitch, plus a Q&A Analysis session with Kristi Ross and Tom Sosnoff, both who admit that they need TextNinja!
Although the seatbelt was first invented in the mid 19th century, it wasn’t until the 1950’s that a lap belt became commonplace in automobiles, and it was even later when the shoulder strap was added. Finally in 1970, the world’s first seat belt law was put into place (in Australia).
Unfortunately it seems that the problem of distracted driving is taking a similarly long time to solve. Laws are falling into place and solutions have been invented, but it is not a problem that can be solved overnight. Over time, though, awareness is growing, and solutions like TextNinja are getting closer and closer to a widespread adoption that can change the social trends associated with texting and driving.
TextNinja is very happy to be part of the 2016 Chicago Auto Show, helping to raise distracted driving awareness! It is in honor to take part of something so historically large in size and importance in the automobile innovation scene.
As we race towards autonomous cars and ever-improving urban mobility through a connected car revolution, it is easy to get swept up in the latest and greatest automotive trends. Of course there has always been a place for safety at the Auto Show, and exhibitors give a lot of attention to how ‘safe’ their brands are in the eyes of the public. But until every car, old clunker or shiny new, is somehow a distraction-free environment for drivers, distracted driving is a safety topic worth discussing.
